French fan here. Mayer playing Dead tunes along with B. Weir in Montana, with strong Paradise Valley and Born&Raised vibes, is like my two favorite things in the world having a child together.
I still think to this day Mayer moving to Montana, and then touring with the Dead, have been his best decisions in life. It allowed him to express himself completely as a human being and an artist without all the fuss coming from being a popstar in LA. It gave him maturity not only in his work (Jerry's playing has been highly profitable to Mayer vocabulary - some new tunes like Wild Blue are filled with Dead goodness) but also as a person. Been following Dead&co religiously since it started, and Mayer never looked happier than when shreding some old Jerry tunes with no other pressure than just enjoying the music. The way he jams with Jeff in particular has allowed him to take off some pressure solo artists have and to just lay back a bit, do some rythmic and have fun being part of a band.
Bottomline, I've been enjoying how much Mayer has been evolving as I also have been throughout the years. Whenever he plays live, it's like catching up with an old high school friend again and again.

GOD DAMN! This is such a poignant reminder that without all the bells and whistles, Bobby and John can absolutely still make angelic music from the Dead's tunes still. Amazing.

No one can replace Jerry, but John does a awesome job. All my heros are dead, getting old everyone you love is gone but not forgotten. Bob weir is still doing it in 2022, it's a beautiful thing. Great song. We need the love back . Keep on trucking dead and company, Jerry is looking down with a tear in his eye.

Watched the whole live stream from my bed in the UK.
Amazing stuff. Wish I could see a lot more of John live in person. My favourite artist by miles. Apart from the quality musicianship and the voice etc etc my overriding thought is always what a good man John is. It's all about giving back.

Beautiful performance! John and his friends have such big hearts when it comes to helping others. The loyalty of their friendships is evident - they were willing to leave their own families and business schedules to come at a moment's notice to assist their friend and his community. There's a saying that you can tell a lot about a person by their friendships and in my 31 years I've seen that to be true. And I remember when my mother once told me that people who are beautiful inside can only create beautiful things (such as music or art), that what's in their hearts must come out in some way or another. That being said, I've always known this but I'll say it to those who don't: John is a gentle and kind soul. If he wasn't, he wouldn't attract such a beautiful group of people and he definitely wouldn't make such beautiful music. I'm happy that the world is finally seeing the goodness of this man.
