Australian Meat Ad Causing Controversy In Hindu Community

Is religion fair game for an ad? Not according to Australia's Hindu community.

Meat & Livestock Australia, an industry marketing group, created an ad featuring several religious figures, including Jesus, Buddha, and even L. Ron Hubbard. The ad is meant to sell lamb as the meat everyone can eat. The problem? The ad shows the Hindu god Ganesha, who's known as a vegetarian.

The Hindu community wants the commercial banned, saying it's wrong to portray Ganesha eating meat. The commercial managed to offend and ignore Hindus, but did seem to be sensitive to Muslims. It was careful not to show the Prophet Muhammad, saying he "could not make it."

I kind of like this ad...it's kind of funny, but the only thing I am offended by this is the way that Lord Ganesha's Body and Trunk is designed to look like...
In this video, he is made to look like a soft and fragile Indian IT Guy...and that mild mannered Indian accent, come on guys...that does not suit a God who kills Demons and has conquered his own...
He should have been made to look way more buffed with way more muscular and thicker Trunk and a deeper, more commanding voice....
I would have been happier to see a well built, buffed Lord Narasimha on the table...now he would definitely love Lamb as compared to a presumably vegetarian Lord Ganesha...

I can guarantee you that if there was a physical depiction of the Islamic prophet, they would've included it too. These people are not tactful at all, and it's clear that this ad was created with minimal research, if any. What I don't understand is why Islam had to be highlighted at all in this video or otherwise. This ad is offensive, that in of itself should be enough to cause a stir. There is no need to throw shade at another religion too. You're just as bad as the ad creator then, speaking from ignorance.

I'm a Buddhist monk and I find this ad very funny.
Btw, the Buddha was not a vegetarian. There is no vow not to eat meat. But there is a vow not to drink alcohol.
