I have a couple relatives with Tourettes, and there are a lot of other mannerisms that some of them have also. Like head banging, repetitive noises, and repetitive jerking motions. Life can be so hard for them. The public has become much more accepting of them in recent years.

I’m not a big fan of religion in general but that’s so sweet they didn’t make a thing about it! My friend has Tourette’s syndrome and was ticking and yelling profanities in church and they told her mom they needed to pray over her to cast out the demons that had taken over her or they would be excommunicated from their church. Mom even explained the had TS but nope they were adamant that it was because of demons 🤦‍♀️ You can imagine the trauma that caused when her mom let them 😡 Everyone sucked in that scenario (excluding friend)

Ah, I remember Wednesday Mass in Catholic school. As if *school* wasn't bad enough, they stuck my ADHD ass in a pew for an hour in the middle of the week.

The students had to do the readings in turns, too. I normally don't mind performing for an audience. To the contrary, I usually *revel* in it. Thing is, doing the readings involved standing at the pulpit, which was scaled for *adults.* I was *six* and the *shortest in my class.* There were *kindergartners* taller than me. So even with the stool they set up for the kids doing the readings, I still had to pull the microphone down as far as it'd go and read to people I *couldn't see.* Must've been funny to watch for the other kids. I disappear behind the pulpit, a tiny hand reaches up to pull the microphone out of sight, and then the pulpit starts talking.

I feel for the kid suffering who's forced to say shit out of his control all the time, but he should take solace in that he was helping all the other kids also suffering, they're being controlled, forced to stay quiet. Especially in Church.

I saw a dateline about a teacher with tourettes and I thought thats effin impossible for those kids to learn and i don't believe it. Junior year i walk into geography and the teacher said fuckershitdoo and literally never explained himself to us. He said any questions which none of us had. By the 3rd day didnt even notice anymore it was not a big deal for anyone. He was one of my favorite teachers for 2 years i loved that guy, it had no impact on any of us after the shock wore off. Incredible

12 years of Catholic school - mass as often as they wanted... especially in grade school, kids were always getting pulled out for corporal punishment, which is now banned.
