How Creationism Taught Me Real Science 103 Ocean Fossils on Mountain Peaks

In this episode we examine the just-so story that evolutionists construct in the face of the overwhelming evidence for a worldwide flood in the form of ocean fossils at the tops of the highest mountains.

Of all creationist assertions, their argument concerning marine fossils on mountains is probably the most feeble-minded and easily refutable. Might I suggest that you consider their assertions about limestone and, especially, dolomite as a topic?

Funny how Creationists jump on the occasional bit of fossil record when they think it supports their flood. While on the other hand ignoring the vast majority of the evidence that clearly disproves their Sunday school story.

My Father was a petroleum engineer. On my shelf right now is a section of a salt core that he retrieved when the oil drill went through a salt dome.

Been a HCTMRS acolyte since episode 1 and yet I am still finding myself amazed at the quantity of detailed history, analysis and science packed into a beautifully crafted, scripted and edited 10 minutes...

A co-worker used this argument on me once and I pointed out that’s plate tectonics and he said plate tectonics can’t happen underwater. He obviously never took geology.

Oh Boy look what I found this morning. Thank you Tony! The work of a master.

I really appreciate these videos. Thanks for all of your hard work, Tony.

Ah yes, those scientific creationist theories that reject established science in order to assume the entire planet was suddenly covered in much more water than was available, and that mysteriously vanished again after exactly 1 year. How scientific.

I love your videos and you are doing a great service, but there are a few mistakes in this one.

Stratigraphic traps are rarely associated with “seismic shifts.” They form as a result of stratigraphic edges of a reservoir body that occur as a result of deposition.

Structural traps form as a result of deformation, such as folding or faulting.

Both of the YEC models of salt dome formation you cite are contradicted by the evidence from wells, cores, and seismic around salt domes.

The migration of salt does not leave a “void to be filled with gas and oil.” The migrating salt domes form traps that are latter filled with petroleum (sometimes).

The reason that thick salt deposits occur along the edges of the Americas and Africa is because as the Atlantic opened it was, for a time, a long, narrow sea in a hot, dry climate and so salt could accumulate from evaporation.

Nit picking, but the image at the lower left at 9:18 has nothing to do with magnetic data; it is showing seismic acquisition.

The key, as you state, is that young earth hypotheses have never been used to predict anything useful, and standard geology has. Anyone who fills their car up is benefiting from the amazing amount of research done by oil companies on the evolution of the earth.

You might guess from this that I am a petroleum geologist.

Hey Tony, could I ask for a small favor? Is there any way you could make a playlist on your channel of every HCTMRS episode in chronological order? It would make it a lot easier for folks like me that want to watch the whole series from start to the present. I could also make one if you’d prefer that.

Wow! Great content and such intellectual honesty to address your critics and openly support corrections to the material you presented. Subbed. Great work!

I always find it funny how creationists only accept fossils or really anything involving science when they think it helps them out

You have a great channel. One question I would like you "to investigate" is wheter there are any example of an animal species that mutated to a new one that cannot interbreed with their parent species while at the same time not being discontinued. Some cases we have observed since we have the evolution theory. It is not easy to find that.

Small correction. At 1:40 you say crinoids is a clade containing sea stars and sea urchins. In reality crinoids are in the same clade as sea stars and sea urchins, namely echinoderms.
