"Now and Then" is a single by The British rock band The Beatles, released on November 2, 2023. This track is part of a double A-side single, which also includes a new mix of their first single, "Love Me Do", original from 1962. Known as "the last Beatles song", "Now and Then" will be included on the expanded reissue of the 1973 "1967-1970" compilation, scheduled for November 10, 2023.

The song was originally written and recorded by John Lennon around 1977 as a home piano demo, but was left incomplete. After Lennon's death in 1980, the inclusion of "Now and Then" was proposed as the Beatles' third reunion single within their retrospective project "The Beatles Anthology" from 1995-1996, succeeding "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love", both based on Lennon demos. However, the song was not included on "Anthology 3" and remained shelved for almost three decades.

The song was later finalized by surviving band members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, who made new recordings of the original track and included George Harrison's guitar tracks from the abandoned 1995 sessions.

The definitive version incorporates additional lyrics by McCartney and Lennon's vocals, extracted from the original demo using artificial intelligence-supported audio restoration technology, commissioned by Peter Jackson for his 2021 documentary "The Beatles: Get Back." Jackson has also directed the music video for "Now and Then."

It's so sad to know that there's people on this planet that will never understand the true genius of the beatles

I am a French teacher, I love this song the Beatles. I am working with children with learning difficulties, I want to make them know this band, with all the beautiful messages of freedom and peace of their song. The Beatles will never die ✌️

There will never be another Beatles. I am so lucky to have grown up during their music lives & careers. They were pure geniuses all four. Thank God for The Beatles. One last song 🎵 .

A great song. It’s beautiful to hear John singing so clearly. I remember the very sad day when dear John lost his precious life. In my opinion, one of the biggest tragedies of the 20th Century. I love the song Paul and Ringo. God bless you both and George & John x

Beautiful song. Heart wrenching also the loss of John so young, a father to his young son. The beatles were geniuses in music. They can never be replaced. I keep returning to their music and this one is pure joy to listen too. RIP John and George. And thank you for all the years of listening to you guys. ❤❤❤

There's a swell of emotions in me right now. Because my dad was a massive Beatles fan. We're Mexican. He passed away almost a year ago, and the Beatles releasing this song on Day of the Dead, when spirits con back to enjoy life with us one more time, to me it's not just having John and George's spirit here singing this amazing ballad, but it's also my dad, closing his eyes, listening to a new Beatles song for the first time...I know he's loving it as much as he would've back in his youth and he'd be singing it non-stop for the coming weeks. Love you dad.

I wonder what it is that makes me shed a few tears when I listen to "Now and Then". Perhaps it's The Fabs' wonderful input, their complex personalities, their tightness as a group of
great friends who survived the good and the bad of being public domain. Thank you, Yoko, for bestowing the tape. Thank you, George Harrison, for NOT wanting to release this song
back then. Thank you, Peter Jackson, for NOT giving us an artificial voice of John. Thank you, Beatles people and friends, for making N&T number 1 ... after all these years. [Gracias, TFS].

My uncle was in the Air Force and when he came home, I didnt remember him. He introduced me to the Beatles music, and i have never looked back. There will be no else like them. This song gave me tears, as i never had the chance to see them. But their music will live on and on.

I have been a fan since I was a child. John died right before I turned 13. As a matter of fact, the moment of silence around the world was held on my 13th birthday on December 14 1980. My friends and I observed that moment of silence at my birthday party. This video had me laughing and crying. I had the privilege of seeing Ringo and Paul live (at one Paul concert my friend and I won front row seats). I own every album and listen to their music together and their solo works probably every day. Like someone else said, I feel privileged to live at the same time as these musical geniuses. I try to explain to my children and now grandchildren, how these 4 men left their mark on music forever. Their music will never die.

Going up in the 70s, my mother would ask me, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I would reply, "a Beatle."
