Mercury Fish: Eating Salmon Is NOT an Issue – Dr. Berg

Показать описание
Dr. Berg talks about why mercury is not really an issue when eating salmon. Even though farm-fed fish has less mercury than wild-caught, it is still well below the danger level. The important point is that salmon has a good amount of selenium, which is the trace mineral that is involved in the key enzymes to detoxify heavy metals including mercury. Selenium-based enzymes protect the brain and nervous system.

I recently changed from being a vegetarian back to a pescatarian. I just had a can of Alaskan salmon not long before typing this. Thanks for the info about the selenium. The pollutants in our oceans kept me from eating fish for awhile, but then I became concerned that I wasn't getting enough nutrients without fish in my diet. Most Japanese eat fish on a weekly basis and live longer than vegans.

Beware of the farm raised salmon. In Dr. Berg’s other video on salmon he warns of PCB’s and many other negative issues with farm raised salmon. This video can lead you to the wrong conclusion.

Thanks so much, I was worried about my consumption of salmon. Does salmon have enough selenium to protect against other heavy metals in the body as well?

Goody, I love salmon. I do try to always get fish that is local or at least from the US, because who knows what is in anything from overseas. I prefer to get wild caught, but sometimes the prices are so ridiculously high that I have to get farm raised and chose a place of origin that is supposed to be reputable. Hopefully.

Salmon is good but radiation is a problem. To counter those problems eat fermented foods and kelp. They both help detoxify radiation. Also if you are a frequent flyer you need radiation detox regularly.

Thx for this as I’m coming off a 5 year vegan/2 year vegetarian diet.
How often can wild caught be consumed?

Unfortunately, PCBs are found in our wild caught fish. And wild caught salmon is exorbitantly priced in many parts of the country.

Good to know, but What about the radioactive waste spewing out of Fuku, Japan? Mercury is not the only poison the fish are absorbing, now. ? Does selenium help with that? If not, what will?

Is there selenium in farm raised salmon? Or it's there only in wild caught? Thx
