I love how they said at the beginning, 'one person who claimed to be an employee'
As a current Subway employee I can tell you we have monthly inspectors that will give the manager hell if she used expired ingredients. Most of these stories are once in a franchise type thing. And of course there is no pay raises, this is a beginners job, you aren't supposed to spend your entire life working at Subway, although my place does have 2 people who have been with the company over a decade.

All entirely accurate. Was a shift manager for 4 years.

I worked at a Subway at the end of high school. One thing that bothered me was the stinginess on both Subway and the franchise's parts. Subway's recommended 6" is supposed to have 2 slices of cheese, 0.75oz lettuce, 3 tomato slices, 3 cucumber slices, 3 onion slivers, 3 bell pepper slivers, 3 little black olive slices, and 3 each of if asked for it. The franchise owner was happy to admonish me in front of customers for being too generous. I got a six inch at the end of every shift, and I would pack it full. As a vegetarian, I found and continue to find Subway corporation and its franchise owners to be lacking in basic empathy to deck out a veggie sammy with veggies. No, I can't taste 3 olives, and stop looking at me like I'm a bad person for asking for a few more.

The subway in my town is so busy that the sandwich fixins could never get old. I love the spicy Italian and veggie delight sandwiches.

OMG!!! I worked the afternoon shift and it was I was this close to quitting and having a panic attack! On top of prepping the store, making the ingredients, cleaning, and cash handling I had rows of customers plus online orders!!! I’m shaking writing this! Regarding the vegetables... don’t worry I’m not an ass! I was generous!

I used to work at Subway for 2 yrs. my owner owned 30 stores and we always watched our exp dates. We never changed them. And we only prepped what we needed.

if you don't know what you want, stand to the side while you decide.
if customers want the bread toasted first, and it interrupts the assembly line, then subway needs to hire more workers.

the video is incorrect on the shelf life of prepped chicken products, btw. ALL chicken products have a 48 hour shelf-life once prepped. If a location actually has prepped chicken being held past this time, then the manager is doing a very poor job of managing time and prep-build-to lists. It literally takes less than 2 minutes to properly prep chicken if the location is using portion scoops.

I have worked at Subway 7 times (desperate times call for going back where they hire you easily) and this is pretty accurate, could debate a few, but it's pretty accurate.

I worked closing shifts for nearly my entire time at Scrubway, and I preferred it—but it IS a lot more work than the other shifts. I just didn’t like working with other people.

If your day shift is absolutely swamped, or sitting in their asses, it makes closing so much more difficult. Having a pre-closer to help makes it easier.

I guess the subaway I worked at was the golden child. The part about the Mayo and the work load is true(WAY too much work for min. wage.), but food was never kept longer than recommended. About the vegies, my manager said that's what's recommended, but they're gonna ask for more anyway, so don't be stingy. It really depends on the manager.
