I was a sportswriter for 20 years and made my bones on boxing reportage. And I never thought I'd see a video like this. Bless you for lifting the curtain on Salvador's genius. Greatest boxer never known.

I'm a 65 year old black guy. Saw several of Sanchez's fights. Amazing how good he was at such a young age. I think I cried a little when he passed.

YES!! I've told people about this kid for years, I'm a former golden gloves boxer myself and we all knew who Salvador Sanchez was, undeniably the finishest fighter I have ever seen, his corner men were amazing to watch, they put on a performance that was mesmerizing, the taking of his pulse they would count his breathing, by the time the bell rang again, he was as fresh as the first round, and let's not forget the fighter, he was a tactician beyond words. Man I miss that kid. RIP.

I heard Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Junior talk about this guy with reverence. Both their body language changed when his name came up, and the whole interview's energy changed up a notch. I'm here to find out who he is.

I was in a bar in Ireland, talking boxing with an older gentleman. He said, "No need to look any further. There was a young man once, 'Salvador Sanchez' was his name. Perhaps the best boxer I've ever seen. There will never be another."

When I was 12yo. We didnt have a tv. at home, but I never missed his fights over the radio. I remember coming back from taking an admission test to ingress to junior high, and when I got home my mom was very sad while giving me the news, because she knew that was my favorite boxer..." El Gran Campeon Mexicano Sal Sanchez" Rip.

It's crazy how good this guy was. He died at just 23yo and was getting better with each fight, we probably never ever saw him reach his real prime and full potential. If it wasn't for that car crash he'd probably be the GOAT

Sanchez at 23 was already an elite fighter and a legend. He beat Puerto Rico's and Africa's greatest fighters. You don't see a weakness in him as you would most fighters. And like the great ones, he always found a way to win. He never forced a knockout either. His footwork is the best I've ever seen, he's still bouncing on his toes in ROUND 15!!! Anybody that's ever been in a ring they know that's INSANE. Sanchez had all the qualities Chavez, Marquez, Morales, Barrera, and Finito had, but better. Offensively, defensively, condition wise, and ring IQ he was like a little Sugar Ray Robinson. Chava's training methods were similar to Haglers and Marciano's. Rain or snow he ran 10-15 miles daily in the MOUNTAINS at high altitude. He trained under 100+ degree weather with the ring built outside, not inside a gym. He had a doctor training him how to lower his heartbeat and control his breathing. Swam daily. Master of the sweet science, but trained like a Spartan. Trained and sparred with Lupe Pintor too! Must of been a sight to see that one!

It was devastating when the news of Salvador's passing was announced, I was 19 when i heard, in my hometown Christchurch, New Zealand, it was on the 6 o'clock news, I couldn't believe it.
What a great, great fighter he was.
RIP Champion.

I had the opportunity to watch his fights during the 80's till his passing :(; and I have been watching boxing till today...and I can say with all honesty that there is absolutely NOBODY who fights like SALVADOR SANCHEZ! Poise, timing, power, stamina, chin, defense, offense, and attitude combined! BTW, I am not Mexican. But for me, he is the greatest boxer in my lifetime.

Fighting a guy with a poker face throughout the whole fight even after you’ve hit him with everything but the kitchen sink had to be discouraging and frustrating! Not to mention that he never opened his mouth to take a breather in between rounds. He was definitely ahead of his time. RIP champ.

My dad always used talked about him and Wilfredo Vargas. Always saying how much of a boxing masterclass he gave to Vargas. My dad is puertorican but always been a fan of Mexico and his people.

As a Mexican Boxing Fan, I just wanna say: Thank You for the Video. Means a lot, not only for the old school Fans who comes back good memories also the new ones whos going to see this legend at the first time. Historically, the Mexican fighter is respect for going forward until the end, combining with a unique technique, Salvador became an Elite fighter. That's why I agree with the notion that he could have been the best Boxing fighter in history.

If it wasn't for Sanchez Chavez will never exist. Sanchez till this day is the best 15 round boxer that has ever made it. Not even Mayweather had the same skills and stamina like Sanchez.
