I knew a bit about the war of the roses before this, but wow is it super interesting. I can now fully understand why George RR Martin was so interested in the story, and how it influenced the greatest fantasy series of all time in my opinion, A Song Of Ice And Fire.

To demonstrate what a small world that the English aristocracy was, Jacquetta of Luxemburg was the second wife of John of Bedford, the uncle of Henry VI. Bedford was the head of the English government during Henry VI's minority, making Jacquetta the second highest ranking woman in the country. After Bedford's death, Jacquetta wed Richard Woodville. Jacquetta and Richard were the parents of Elizabeth Woodville, Edward IV's queen. Somerset was also an interesting character. He was rumored to be widowed Catherine of Valois' lover and the alleged father of Edmund Tudor, Henry VII's father. Also, Somerset was a favorite of Margaret of Anjou and the rumored father of Edward of Shrewsberry, Henry VI's heir.

Fantasticly well narrated and a comprehensive piece of documentary.
I also liked the undiluted version of the 1605 gunpowder plot. Mostly this story is told as though the unravelling of the plot is solely because of one of the conspirators gets a case of remorse, but it is more complicated than that.
