At 40K just changed the fluid and it made a huge difference and runs much faster and better. At 30 K change the transmission fluid and you will be fine

I love Jeep and drive a 2015 hard rock that ive built up myself with tunes and catless downipes and crazy stuff. I take very good care of my car, please dont spend money on the dealership for this problem its simply a poor transmission that needs to be replaced with a better one. Mine does the exact same thing, changing the gear ratios might help

It's literally the torque converter locking in 2nd. This feature makes your transmission more reliable by eliminating the heat generation of the slipping torque converter and improves fuel economy for the same reason.

Have the exact same issue, did a complete overhaul, new conductor plate, new solenoids, all seals inside the pistons... But no sulution to this. Even after driving some time, for no apparent reason, it totally loses grip, but recovers after key cycling. 😢

everyone's bugging out for no rsn. the quote on quote problem is literally written into the shift schedule the transmission is supposed to do hydraulically slip when it's appropriate. it mostly occurs in 2nd gear but will do it in every foreward gear except 1st I think. think of it as having multiple shift points per gear. like a ten speed with only five gears. this shift program is designed to maximize power and efficiency at the same time and keep the transmission from having to shift so often. it doesn't cause any extra wear and actually helps the tranny last longer. these r very old mercedes benz tranny's originally from 2003 I think not sure abt that I think it's called a w5ag80 or wg580 or some bullshit like that. mercedes overall is trash but this transmission is a marvel of a unit they're reliable af same deal as with the pentastar 3.6. neither the tranny or engine r exciting or fast or fancy or modern but they've been around for quite some time now and they have a record for reliability. after 100, 000 miles on my '16 jku I beat the piss out of every day and I've heard many sounds. most of them come and go, and I've learned to just tell myself it's a jk wrangler whatever it is it'll work itself out

Having the same issue here with my 2014JKU CRD.. just started a few days ago. Not sure what to do. In addition, it feels like it is not as torquey anymore. 41k miles on it

Mine does this too does yours only do it when switching from manual mode to auto because I think the reason mines doing it is from incorrectly putting it in neutral to go back to auto I discovered if you hold shifter to right it will go back into drive

I have a 12 with 16 transmission that does this exact same thing. I pulled out 24 ounces of fluid and added Locus transmission fix, didn’t make a difference. Has anyone added a shift kit to these transmissions? Would that fix the issue?

I have a 2013 auto jk that does the same exact thing. Has done it since I bought it with 32k miles. I’m at 66k now. I’m going to have the tranny fluid and filter changed in a week or two, to see if that helps. If so, I’ll check back.

Hi, I know many asked if your issue was resolved, but I have this same rpm drop only in the 2nd gear, almost every time and I cannot get used to it. I noticed that the few times it is not doing it, you really feel the 2nd gear engaging differently, you feel it engaging more solidly before reving up normally without a dip to the 3rd gear.

I bought a 2011 Jeep Wrangler with 112k miles like 2 months ago . And The transmission fluid was black . I took it to get it checked out at the dodge dealership. And they said it just was never changed . And it just needed to be changed. I got it done by them . Then a few weeks later . Today. It let me on the side of the road. It wouldn’t go into gear in drive or reverse. Is it there fault?

My '13 JKU Sport does something weirder:
At 20k miles Got a CEL for starting off in the wrong gear, Went into Limp mode.
I have an Automatic trans. how can it possibly start in the wrong gear? went to the dealer and they cleared it. Said it was just an anomaly.
starting at ~50K miles sometimes it will not allow manual shift and will not shift properly in drive (max out at 4th gear). Sometimes throws CEL.
Now with 80K miles, it's about every 3rd time I start it. I've been pulling to the side of the road, shutting it down and restarting it to clear the issue. Still throwing intermittent CELs but sometimes they clear themselves after a couple starts.

Heading to the dealer, It's been out of warranty since 36K, but with the one at 20K, there is a shot at least that they will fix as a preexisting condition that was ignored by them while under warranty.

I'm almost stock with just armor, bumpers, only change to driveline is K&N Filters, Oil, and Rubicon tires rather than the sport (stock tire is 29", Rubies are 32").

Fun fact: instead of shifting to neutral to get it back into drive, you can just hold it to the right and I think it will shift back into drive

something similar happens to mine. while around ~3000 rpm it'll down shift revving up and immediately shift back up causing the Jeep to jerk every so slightly. it's annoying
