Laß dich nur nichts nicht dauren mit Trauern,
sei stille, wie Gott es fügt,
so sei vergnügt mein Wille!
Was willst du heute sorgen auf morgen?
Der Eine steht allem für,
der gibt auch dir das Deine.
Sei nur in allem Handel ohn Wandel,
steh feste, was Gott beschleußt,
das ist und heißt das Beste.
Amen.
Text from a poem by the chorale author Paul Flemming (1609-1640):
Do not be downtrodden nor sorrowful,
be still, for God has ordained it,
so happy is my will!
What will you do from day to day?
There is One who stands above all,
He gives you also what is yours.
Be steadfast in everything without fail,
stand firm; what God has decided,
that is and will be the best.
Amen.
