Marine biologist makes chilling discovery after finding this on the beach. We take a look at what this marine biologist found on the beach. #youtubeshorts

Two notorious killer whales, Port and Starboard, inhabit the waters off South Africa and are recognized by their rare curved dorsal fins.

Several weeks back, marine biologists observed the whales going on a hunting spree, and taking out seventeen broadnose sevengill sharks in a single day, feasting specifically on their livers and leaving the remnants to wash up on the shore.

Thank you for watching!

Thank you to CO.AG for the background music!

What this video fails to mention is that a shark’s liver is roughly 1/3 of its body weight and orcas are very fond of the squalene it contains, which is the oil found in a shark’s liver that helps the shark regulate its buoyancy. Humans use squalene [anecdotally] to enhance immunity, regulate cholesterol and to treat cancer (primarily leukemia) as well as several cosmetic applications like anti aging creams and assorted makeups and lip balms… basically shark liver is like the superfood of the sea and essentially a delicacy for orcas, who are notorious for being finicky about what they eat, which is why they don’t typically attack humans… it’s not because they like us, it’s because their mothers never designated us as a “safe food” 😂 trust if mama orca fed its calf a human, sharks wouldn’t be the scariest thing in the ocean anymore lol

White shark: I'm an apex predator.
Orca: Basically you're just another tasty fish.

The killer whale, also known as orca, is the ocean's top predator. Killer whales are apex predators, which means they have no natural predators. If you had any doubt about the killer whale’s apex status, consider this: Wildlife-watchers off the coast of California witnessed an orca attacking a great white shark. The orca won. No contest. The true ruler of the sea is the killer whale. It surprised me that these orcas on the video only wanted one part of the shark, the liver! The vitamin and mineral packed liver is very nourishing! Smart creatures!!

Humans fear sharks, sharks fear Orcas.

On the coast of Australia, the orcas used to help fishermen with herding in other whales to be culled. They did this because the fishermen would always give the tongue and liver to the orcas. Amazing, intelligent creatures.

I saw a show where they proved that dead shark smell was a powerful anti-shark repellent, so i'm sure all those dead sharks kept them away for a long time.

Dude orcas are the most terrifyingly smart and slightly sadistic creatures in the ocean.

They did a study about the enzymes or something in a sharks liver. The replicated it in a lab and then released it into the ocean and all the great whites that were tagged in the vicinity dropped down to a deep dive (where orcas won’t go) and then left the area. It’s crazy how they all knew something had happened and left.

Fun fact: even still there is not a single case of a wild killer whale killing a human, meaning either they don't see us as food or they're very good at leaving no witnesses

It's amazing how a director accidentally caught this happening on Camera years ago, in a movie called 'Orca the Killer Whale'. Yet marine biologist refused to believe that this would happen if it were a wild Orca (yep a trained /aquarium Orca instinctively went after a Shark, flipped it to immobilise it, tore its liver out)..
Marine Biologist hypothesis was that the Killer Whale was protecting the trainer's/diver's... Now we know that this is common place for orcas.

South Afrikan surfer: I bet you can't make it safe for us to surf.
Orca: Challenge accepted.

I watched something about this several years ago. On this particular show, I think they said it happened in like California. Wherever it was, they stated that it was years before they saw another great white. They stated that when sharks smell shark blood, they all flee instinctively.

Orcas are the humans of the sea. Think about it and you’ll get me. They’re not bullies, they are a communicating species who successfully get things done together.
