Liar, Lunatic, Lord - Who IS Jesus?

A famous trilemma about Jesus argues that he is either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord God himself. But are these three the only options open to a bible reading Christian?

This video argues that there is a fourth option, one that doesn't require Trinitarian commitments, or dual natures Christology.

Great video! So often I've found trinitarian arguments to be logically inconsistent when you really look at them with an open mind. This is a prime example of a common teaching that is just typically not challenged.

Thanks!

Amen. The word of YHWH (rightly translated according to the Biblical Method) proves this message to be the absolute truth.

He should have said "Liar, Lunatic, or Christ". I admit Jesus is the lord Christ, not the Lord God!!

Wow. So, if Jesus was not God he was a liar or a lunatic in the Trinitarian's mind? 😫🤦‍♂️

It's a poor defense--the trilemma by Lewis. As I said to my own people in a recent vid, one of the arguments to the Jesus divinity concept was that he couldn't have been a liar or a lunatic. Well, yes he could have and very easily. How many today claim supernatural occurrences? The entire Burpo family comes to mind with a now twenties man who still believes he went to heaven at four years old even though he never actually died. And how many follow this ministry? How many followed Joseph Smith's claim of being visited by the angel Moroni? He even had eleven signed signatures of witness of later seeing tablets, hearing supernatural voices and such. So no, Jesus and his disciples claming this and that don't mean much--and the fact we actually have no signed signatures of anything or any authorship of anyone else during Jesus life only makes the case look more and more like an urban legend. Cheers, DCF

Christians pray to, worship and serve the Lord Jesus which demonstrates He is God (John 14:14; Revelation 5:9-14; Ephesians 6:6-7).

Option E. Yahweh is the one God of the Bible. Jesus is His Son, that makes Jesus Devine because His Father is God. (Like your children are human because you are human.) Yes under the one God Yahweh His Father.

Option (C) : Jesus is God, however He is a non-omnipotent God. Why? The almighty God cannot make his work NOW, in real time, in parallel with the existence of mankind. He had to make that work in a DISTANT PAST instead. Jesus WAS that almighty God in that distant past. What is the difference now ? That He is NOT almighty anymore, He is like a normal man. The "almighty God" thus dropped "almighty" to become just "God". Since Jesus HAD BEEN the almighty God, this means that the almighty God WAS ONLY IN THAT PAST ("the world has not known you"). However, from that past, God had a GATE OPEN to his future, He was able to reach us in our present time, but just with his words and actions. This conversely means that we are reached by Him from that past. Since the almighty God is here from the past, but in reality NOBODY is here, we say that God is here only in a limited form: in the form of a spirit ("God is a spirit"). This is from OUR POINT OF VIEW. From the almighty GOD'S POINT OF VIEW instead, ALL IS WORK has been COMPLETED and therefore He could get rid of his now useless power to become like a normal man: the Son of God.

"Lord" does not equal "God".

Here is how I would change it:

A) Liar
B) Lunatic
C) God
D) Lord
