Was Jesus a Lunatic, Liar or Lord? C.S. Lewis' Trilemma - with Rabbi Michael Skobac - Jews for Judaism

Salespeople and influencers of all kinds regularly employ logical fallacies to confuse and manipulate. Famous Christian author C.S. Lewis popularized this kind of argument to maneuver people into accepting the claim that Jesus was divine. Known as the Trilemma, the argument assumes that Jesus claimed to be God, and that if this were not true, he must have been either a lunatic or a liar. This manipulation assumes that no one would dare suggest that Jesus was either of these, so the only other possibility is that Jesus was who said he was.

In this lecture, Rabbi Michael Skobac will deconstruct this argument and show why it is a logical fallacy and therefore, proves nothing.

I really appreciate the arguments being laid out like this. I was raised Christian but I’m now converting and more and more I’m feeling like Judaism makes way more sense than anything I was taught in Christianity, and I’m amazed how quickly the apologetics arguments I learned as a Christian fall apart upon close examination

Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods besides Me.” That pretty much eliminates Jesus. It’s clear and to the point. There is only one G-D.

I guess it is just as hard to ask a Believer and practitioner of Judaism to accept the concept of Jesus being god, as it is hard asking a Christian believer to accept the fact that Jesus is definitely not god.

And exactly! Jesus never claimed to be G-d, neither any of his disciples. (even though sometimes the text seems to claim that, but in a deep analysis is not. Like the one you read).

Legend. I'm a deist but an atheist actually had the best take on this. His channel is Paulogia and he talks about a minimalist case where Peter and Paul have supposed visions, Paul's version wins out having spread further and faster among gentiles predisposed to ideas of demigods and against circumcision. I would add that, when the temple was destroyed in 70 CE and most of the Jewish Christians were wiped out, there was a complete takeover by "Paulianity" which eventually got State backing and literally killed the competition.

I could be wrong, of course, but my version seems plausible.

What if Jesus did have an illness that made him hear voices, but the actual new testament books were written so many years after Jesus's death, then who knows?

Most of my friends and coworkers are some kind of Christian. Instead of saying to them I don't believe in Jesus, I say, I go by the first book, or I don't hate Jesus in anyway, but I am not a Christain but if you are happy with what you believe in it's okay.

if they say yes then before the rooster crowed is false. If no then before the 2 crowings is false cause the denials were separated by a crowing.

Yeshua could have been either a liar, a deluded megalomaniac or a sanyasi of the Advaita Vedanta tradition. See Swami Sarvapriyananda's teachings on YouTube. After all Yeshua did reportedly go to India during the 'missing years'.
