Fully agree. When I was a young lad, 60kmiles was a head job, 100kmiles(160000kms) was an engine rebuild. Some of these Toyota engines go over 1million kms but one owner and religiously maintained. I even read of a Tundra that reached 1million miles in the US. The owner traded it on a new Tundra

I own a 98 Corolla Liftback with 92000 ks from new. Over serviced from new. I don't drive it in the rain so it hasn't been out in a while just north of Brisbane.

It’s cold in western Canada, the ‘ol j120 d4d equipped doesn’t much care for winter. Melbourne would be nice and balmy.

very good point Anthony, my daughter purchased her 1st car 18 Mths ago, a 2007 Toyota Yaris, with 307 000 Km's, like you it's not the Km's that causes the damage, it's the service history, the Yaris had a full detailed service history and havent had any issues (well just recently replaced 1 coil) car runs like a solid 300k engine... nice post...thanks

Brought my Hilux new in 05, had the injectors done at 250k, it’s now coming up to 450k. Get it serviced every 10k or less religiously.

Sweden here. Snow is falling and the weather is normal here. I read some were that the weather around Australia is effected (more rain and colder) by the Honga Tonga volcanic eruption. I have a question. My 120 prado 1KD from 2003 are taking 3-4 seconds for the oil pressure light to come of when i start it cold. Before it usually comes of in about 1 second. What could be the cause of this?

What I've noticed in Australia is that people tend to neglect Toyotas and not maintain them well because of the reputation Toyota has here.

I'm excited to buy my 1st new car and it's a brand new V6 Prado. I owned a never ending project car BMW E36 which I love, well taken cared off, just like new except the paint. I'm from the Philippines and the weather is alright, it is sunny over here.

Cheers for your channel, so much info.
I have a 07 single cab 4x4 275000km in
Albany WA
Just got it opened up yesterday coz of knocking noise.
Failed copper washer on injector(apparently a recall for them back in the day)
Full carbon build up and damage to the 1st cylinder.
Given estimate around 13-14k for long motor, injectors, radiator, pipes hoses, labour etc
Not sure if its worth spending that sort of money in my situation. Maybe do a rebuild and sell. Horse and cart might be cheaper.

I'm just up in the Blue Mountains, so dealing with pretty similar weather swings. Might be in touch early next year for a Hilux bearing kit, made the mistake of using cheap ebay ones, they're not holding up well.

living in Adelaide. More rain in last 2 months than previous 12 months. Also massive thunderstorms, damaging winds, etc. All dams are over 90% full & River Murray is flooding due to East Coast. Climate change is alive and flourishing..
BTW, not uncommon for U.S. vehicles to have 400 - 500K miles on the odo.
