NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover is heading to the Red Planet to search for signs of ancient life, collect samples for future return to Earth and help pave the way for human exploration. The rover will carry with it several technology demonstrations including a helicopter, which will attempt humanity's first powered flight on another planet. Perseverance has a new set of science instruments and the ability to “self-drive” on the Martian surface.

The Perseverance rover is scheduled to launch from Space Launch Complex 41 at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center as early as July 30. It is set to land at Mars' Jezero Crater on Feb. 18, 2021.

Just the idea of visiting an ancient river delta, one that formed on another world, is absolutely mind-blowing.

That was a great overview. The illustration of the lake was very eye-opening about the extent of water on ancient Mars.

There should be a mission to send flat earthers on a “research” mission to the sun.

Your efforts are amazing, but imagine how much further those efforts would go if you had American, British, Brazilian, Canadian, french, Pakistani, indian, Chinese, Russian, Australian, Nigerian, Egyptian, Moroccan, Korean, Mongolian, Iraqi, Arabian etc scientists working together on a space programme Please make it happen! It will speed the space exploration process up by hundreds of years

Not quite the first time, some of the Venera probes that landed on Venus had microphones already. I'm still happy you included them in Perseverance, I do love that human feel of another world! ^^

I wish the #Perseverance may persevere under all drastic conditions of mars and let us all know something #UNEXPECTED after some time... A very best of luck...

It'd be really neat if they could leave some cameras in strategic positions on the surface to be turned on & film future landings.

when I was little I wanted to be the first person on mars. I had a bunch of posters, books, etc. about space

I still don’t understand why they have to drop these packed samples for picking and transport 10 years later. I thought they would be easier to retrieve if they remain on the rover.

Good luck to all those involved with Perseverance!

Think about the technical challenges it takes to get to Mars. Now think about how to get those samples back from the surface of Mars. Good luck to the engineers who are assigned to that project!
