Aloha Katie. Good choices. Skaneateles is such a cute town on the lake. The Sherwood Inn (from 1807 and with precious old paintings) and the Blue Water Cafe on the lake are great places to eat at as well. The Patisserie Bakery is hidden behind Sherwood and has perhaps the BEST French baguettes anywhere--we'll get a warm 12" long one and finish it on its own. :)

I often fly direct to Albany or buffalo and drive to Ithaca. In Utica (one hour from Syracuse two hours from Ithaca) there is a great restaurant Tailor and the Cook. It is in a restored historical building and serves farm to table America cuisine also with creative bar drinks. In Buffalo 15 minutes from the airport there is a great Japanese restaurant called Sato in the nice elmwood neighborhood.
