That last part where you used chfn -f to change root to a name of your choice: Editing /etc/passwd and changing root there would accomplish the same thing. I did learn something here. Another way of changing that name. I always like learning new commands. This video also helped me getting my CentOS server to send emails.

One other note, in the main.cf file:
smtp_tls_CAfile = /etc/ssl/certs/ca-bundle.crt works for CentOS while smtp_tls_CAfile = works for Ubuntu or Debain based OSes.
