Wounds that are resistant to healing properly can become infected or life-threatening. Henry Hsia, MD, FACS, is the founding director of the Regenerative Wound Healing Program at Yale Medicine. The program has been hugely successful in helping patients who had otherwise been told they would require amputation. In this video, Dr. Hsia describes the most common reasons why a wound won’t heal, and the types of treatments available. For Dr. Hsia, it’s important to not only treat the physical aspects of the wound, but to also address the psychological and sometimes aesthetic aspects.
