I love how you chat with us throughout this video - I get a sense of 'you' and I enjoy that! You seem personable and relatable. ( I suppose that's a matter of opinion - but there ya go - that's MY opinion :) ) Thanks for doing this. I'll be 51 years old tomorrow and have NEVER read a Jane Austen novel. I got 2 of them last weekend at a thrift store and intend on reading all 6. I haven't looked to see if there's any recommendation on which order to read them (planned on doing that next)... Anyhoo - Thanks, again!

Thanks for the list. I recently watched another adaptation called Becoming Ms Bennett. It was a good version. Made me start looking for more versions. It is a good one to add to your list.

For me: Pride and Prejudice has to be the one with Colin Firth although I like the movie from 2005, too. Emma with Ramola Garai, Sense and sensibility BBC production from 2008, Persuasion 2007. Mansfield Park probably best with Billie Piper.

There was also a "Pride & Prejudice" in 1938

I've seen 3--"Sense & Sensibility" with Emma Thompson, "Emma" with Romola Garai, "Persuasion" with Ciaran Hinds, forgot the female lead.

There are so many adaptations that I have lost count. I have seen 19 of the ones you listed. But I've also seen one called "Pride and Prejudice, Cut" which is cute and Hallmark has numerous adaptations (I've lost count). My favorites are Pride and Prejudice 2005, Sense and Sensibility 1995, and BBC's Emma 2009.

My first thought when I saw the title was that IMDB would be a good resource to start such a list so I went to have a look at how many credits Jane Austen gets as writer, which turns out to be 88.

So when you started with the 1940 Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier film I guessed that your criteria were theatrical release single presentation. But no, the next inclusions are the 1971 TV series of _Persuasion_ in 5 episodes and _Sense and Sensibility_ in 4. So we're *_not_* theatrical movies only.

Then what of the TV movie of _Pride and Prejudice_ of 1938?

And then the at least 13 adaptations between 1940 and 1971.

I have seen 37 of these (plus all the Pemberley Digital stuff like the Lizzie Bennet Diaries that another commenter mentioned). I don't know whether to be proud or just facepalm for my obsession. lol

Did you show the movie where the girl has a hidden door in her bathroom and finds it, opens it, goes through it and finds herself taken back in time and in the house of Elizabeth Bennett. She pretends to be a guest and she is in love with Darcy. The real Elizabeth Bennett goes through the door into the future and likes it and wants to stay in the future. The girl stays in the world of the past and takes the place of Elizabeth Bennett and Darcy falls in love with her... it was a funny movie, but I don't remember the name.

I have seen them all by this stage I think. The Lawrence Olivier version a great romp but not true to book at all after halfway and costumes delightful but wrong wrong wrong...The 1980 Pride and prejudice with Elizabeth Garvie and David Rintoul is my fav its on daily motion in parts ..YT not good at even very old adaptations, Daily mootion is better...Mansfield park has been massacred a few times ..Becoming Jane and Miss Austen regrets are very well done..The 2008 Sense and Sensibility has really grown on me.Austenland Guilty pleasure and its soo like an austen novel where Brett the charming hero is actually a villain, like Willoughby and Wickham. Death comes to Pemberley great regency murder mystery but the characters are not behaving like they truly should be especially Charlotte. Love and Friendship is a good adaptation. The zombies is an abomination....Sandinton is also so unAusten and in that respect that I do not like it!!

Seen most of these of the early ones.. the two about Jane Austen herself are very inaccurate.. Jane's great love was not Tom Lefoy who never proposed but a gentleman she met in Lyme who died which is why persuasion is like a could have been
