San Blas, Mexico is a delightful little town that we've thoroughly enjoyed. Before coming here, we didn't know much about it though. These are the top 10 things you need to know before traveling to San Blas. They're the facts we would have loved to know before heading into town. Did we miss anything?

ABOUT US (MADDIE & JORDAN)
In January 2018, we sold everything we owned in the US (except our husky Laska & what fit in our tiny, tangerine Prius C3) to travel the world—starting with Mexico. Since then, we've been making travel videos about our life in Mexico and the new experiences we encounter while traveling the world. If you'd like to join our shenanigans, subscribe to our YouTube channel. You can also poke around our social media to find out what we’re up to each week.

The first time I visited San Blas, was in the winter of 1968. I spent three months there that winter. Then for the next seven years, I spent anywhere from three to five months every winter in San Blas. It has really changed over the years. :-)

I was there 46 years ago! I caught a sailfish over 100 pounds. Also memorable was a fantastic ride up a spring fed river through the mangrove tunnels where there was a rope swing and bar at the end. I wish I knew more about the place now. Id love to go back. As a young kid I thought this was the place i want to retire living on mangos and fish! It was so beautiful. They did warn us about the bugs. One in particular they called "ehell"? or something like that?

I was there a very long time ago! What a Beautiful place!! Lovely people. I remember the Chamelians. They'd simply fall.off the ceiling and land in our soup! I also remember inspecting a bumble bee that resembled the largest Black Cherry you'd ever see! The darn thing was the size of a tangerine!! I kid you not! The sheer weight of the bug caused it to sort of fly in an up.and down manner. The bulkiness of the cherry like body was so cumbersome, that it actually kept bumping into the wall! I was so horrified, I almost pulled the tablecloth off as I ran for the door. The rest of my visit was straight out of a dream..transparent aqua ocean water..so clear you can see your toenails. It's almost unbelievable, the sheer natural.beauty! There is paradise right there and alot of people know nothing about it! A real gem.

Not a lot of videos of "home", but this is one of my favorites. You guys missed #11- number of backpackers in San Blas. The last 10 years there have been awesome people that go to San Blas for all the wonderful things backpackers want; beach, sun, tranquility, history, good food and just a small place where they can hang out for months or even a year. I have had wonderful conversations with French, German, American, Canadian and even British backpackers. My grandma housed a few throughout the years, and it was a wonderful experience to sit and talk to them for hours at a time. Thank you guys for this video.

Had a great time in San Blas. Only 50 years ago loved surfing the bay with my long board. I was informed that is one of the longest point breaks on the planet. If the waves are up i would consider it to be the best location for a person learning to surf.looking over the live shots it has been modified from the place I knew. That’s to be expected . I hope greedy America hasn’t wrecked the price for tourist trade. Love the bugs it keeps the country club set out.

I used to live in San Blas and loved it! I seen on a regular basis a family of 5 riding a motorcycle. I also married a local girl from there and smuggled her to the U.S., BIG MISTAKE! Once they get Americanized your dead... We were MUCH HAPPIER living in San Blas!

We have the "No see em's " in Charleston also, try a drier sheet that you put in the laundry dryer, rub it on your neck face so you don't have to use bug spray chemicals. It works in Charleston SC, I don't know about Mexico.

1973 San Blas in the raw. From the film I am seeing it has been modified. That’s to be expected. I pray that this once rual town hasn’t been tainted. And the people still speak in pesos and not dollars. I loved the bugs and the great surfing beach. Got in with the locals and they took me fishing at night in a boat.

Thank you for mentioning the bugs and the noise, these two issues are almost never mentioned for some reason?

I'm not sure if is "siesta time", in Mexico we eat around 2 pm to 4 p.m. Small towns use to close for that reason.
