I was dating a man with this illness but we broke up and I am so devastated. I love him. I love every part of him and wanted to be by his side for our lifetimes. He is an extraordinary man and gentle, intelligent, thoughtful and sweet, protective and wise. I was so in love with him. All I want for him is to be healthy, healed of all hurts, and happy.

Diagnosed with schizophrenia, I can confirm this is a very good way to understand it. I’m lucky to not have let it get the best of me.

Been diagnosed with schizophrenia since around the age of 17, now approaching my mid thirties. Never was on medicine long, in my experience they all did more harm than good. The last medication made me put on so much weight that I stopped weighing myself when it passed 400 pounds. Been on the carnivore diet and working out off and on since the last hospital visit and the ballooning of my ballasts let’s say and I got back down to 250-260 pounds which I carry pretty well being 6’2”. I’ve never had so much energy and clear thought since I found this diet through the Peterson Family and then restumbled upon it via Buckminster Fuller. So much energy in fact that I picked up speed bag and boxing, yoga and dance, and I pick up the guitar and sit down at the piano more frequently. About the only thing I don’t do that I miss is the poetry, I have drifted away from that but that was the only thing that kept me afloat during my bouts with madness. During my last break from reality I wrote 800-1, 000 poems. I still write but it has shifted towards working on a novel. When the clouds darken and come to crush me I know that the pen and the paper will be there and that the poetry will carry me through it again but never will I ever use medicine again. I have to thank Jordan Peterson and his daughter for doing more for my mental health than anyone I’ve ever seen. I’ve only had one positive experience with therapy and I miss him to this day, Arthur was the best listener any timid talker such as myself could hope to work with. I think he knew that to heal is to hear and that to cure is to care. Arthur you have set the standard but I pray I never have to seek someone better!

The problem with psychiatry is that a diagnosis of schizophrenia allows doctors to use a broad brush and generalise their patients experiences within this very closed sphere. Just as schizophrenics cannot differentiate facts from fiction - doctors are so uninvolved in the lives of their patients that they can’t either.

I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, and it's just as he says, except there's more going on than neurophysiological changes. Or I'll put it this way, whatever changes occur in the brain can be reversed and schizophrenia can be overcome. So there's understanding schizophrenia by way of the brain, and then there's understanding schizophrenia by way of the mind. Most would think that's the same but it's far from it.

My brother had paranoid schizophrenia. Truly heart breaking. And then I think of cluster Bs who have the ability to improve themselves and leave those around them alone, and it makes me angry that they cause the damage they do to themselves and others.

Cortisol is the bad hormone produced when you are stressful. When you free yourselves from those stressful expectations, cortisol is highly decreasing.
