Just did the same thing on a Jet column mill. Your video was a good guide, especially for lifting the column. Thank you for making and sharing the video.

Hello!

Same thing here, I used your bottle jack idea to lift my King PDM30 colonme, she was left to right 12 thousands off, now she is 0.001th off only but I still have a 0.010th off front to rear, so that is my next job. Also, as I had no shims, I used a folded sheet of coking aluminium with metal epoxy in between, and used antiseised on both sides plus on the bolts just to be sure it would not stick there. I also waited 4 hours before puting the shim in, when it was almost hard. 50 pounds of torque on theses big bolts should keep them still. I also used very wide flat washer to even the pressure on the base. I think I will use cola can aluminium for the rear shim and see if by folding it enough times I can get to the right thickness, plus a few thow to compensate for how it get crushed under the weight once in place. I just hope it does not fuck up my left right setting as I do it.

Thx
