Surprisingly the car that’s lasted me the longest is my project car.
I have an 85 Honda CRX Si with the twin cam 1.6L engine from the Japanese Si cars swapped in and it never fails me. Besides the one time it blew a transmission…
130, 000 miles on the chassis. 55, 000 miles on the engine. Sat for 12 years too and started right up with a jump start.

Having owned several of these cars in my lifetime LS400, 2001 E55 AMG, Mercedes Benz 190E, 87 Civic Si, 88 Honda Accord Sei and a Toyota Sequoia . I have to say it would be extremely difficult to choose between the LS400, the E55 AMG or my 2013 Avalon.

High mileage cars are maintained. In the nice barely driven market some miles are so low its an issue. Grandpa's old corvette has a 20k mile engine that needs a rebuild.

Bought a 1986 Jetta 1.8 manual.
2 clutches and 386, 000 miles when a guy missed a red light. I was fine. Unfortunately, Ziegfreid pumped his last

I drive less than 500 miles a year, almost any car will last me a life time.

I had a 2007 Chevy Malibu LS with a 2.2L ecotec with 287k on it when a semi cut me off and sent me into a guardrail last year. If not for that, it would have had well over 300K with just basic maintenance and topping off the oil

I have a 1999 Corolla (auto, unfortunately) and it stays surprisingly planted going through corners for being a “boring” car. Weighs 2500 lbs wet. It can take interstate exits at 45 mph and it doesn’t have much body roll at all. Might get some upgraded shocks and tires when these ones go bad

Hells Yes!
Awesome vid! I would drive any and all of these cars. I've driven half of them. For the towncar, I would get the L series. It was the fleet vehicle of choice for limo companies, and might still be the case. My family has had 2 90s towncars that had far more driver problems than drivetrain problems. I've had 3 EG civics which I beat the crap out of and picked up after 200k mi for $1k ea. I still see the Lexus LS 400 on the road today. I almost bought a saab 900 for $2k but was concerned about part availability. In 1998 I drove a beat up Volvo 740 almost 300mi going 90mph with just my driving permit as a "license". The owner told me "keep it under 100" We shaved an hour off the drive though :D. I've only driven and worked on the 96 accord. I've always wanted a 2000 V6 accord. I beat the absolute crap out of a 90 EF civic EX 5spd I owned. I used to shred motor mounts from the constant clutch dumps I would do in that car. Boy was I young and borderline stupid back then.
I work with someone who still drives their 95 e-class.
I've only done detail work on an Avalon.

I am curious to know how the 1990 Subaru Legacy and the 1998-2000 Toyota Camry competes. I still see tons of Camrys on the road today and I flushed the engine of one that my buddy sludged the engine oil on. To the point where the low oil pressure light came on. We had to add 2 quarts of oil through the dipstick tube just to get it to a garage to do the engine flush. He told me the car drove like new after that, lol.

Anyway, great vid! Hope to see more like it. Very ideal.
