I was thinking an old civic all the way when he spoke about why it’s the best 😄

They’re not cheap here in California. Used ones, people are still asking near retail prices for them.

P plate legal, awd specifically in Australia. Also talking about the states with restrictions… go Mazdaspeed 3 or 6, ralliart. These go for anywhere between 10-25 for really good examples, fun reliable cheap power. I had a 450 hp Ralliart on my Ps, my tradesmen forged his mazdaspeed6 10 years ago and made ~600hp in his.

Until it goes pop. As they do. Toyota should have built the engine.

CHEAP?! I hate golfs and audis but at the moment the 86/BRZ market SUCKS and a Golf GTI would honestly be a better buy until the prices of 86s come back to like 12-15k

The "answer" is MIATA any year, any budget.

Here in the US they are not cheap by any means, first gen frs/brz/86 go for 10k easy, and on top of that they still blow the head gasket before it hits 120k like any other subaru...

Every civic ever made or the Mazda miata
Why are you even thinking about the brz

Every time the boys talk about cheap performance cars I think of Marty's old Euro Turd and how it would absolutely slay a bunch of their cars that have come since, especially the Swift and 206. RIP Polo GTI, you were never even given a chance.

Maybe it's different in the states, but over here, if you want something cheap, with good aftermarket, and turboable.

Get a 350z, Mx-5/Roadster/Miata, 200SX/240SX
Or the Europen special: BMW 3 or 5 series (essentially any older generation)

The 86s are still expensive compared to what I listed above
They've also got Subaru engines, which... I mean Subies have a reputation.

Focus ST225 mk2. Get a 4 door if ya want a family version. 2.5 litre turbo 5 cylinders. Great sounds, lots of mods for them, easy to tune. Cost about 4-5k for a decent one in UK. Easy peasy.

20k plus in aus for good one. As far as cars go i wouldnt say cheap exactly. But definitely a perfect p plater car. Or actually i would say subaru liberty gen 4. Super underated cars most especially the flat 6 version like martys. They got good na low end torque with a exhaust and tune. They have a timeless look. You can find one from 5-15k depening on engine and condition

I believe they underpowered the BRZ so that there would be a tuning market. It's like a go-kart, it feels like you are at the limit when you are going normal speeds. So anything you do to it feels like you are adding a lot.

Cheap used fun is sub $10k, even first year models here in the states are still above $13k. Its even worse once you find a modded one, because then the owner is trying to recover the cost of the mods on top, and the mods are always done in the shoddiest way possible.

If they made it in AWD I would get one. Two seater AWD with after market support I would buy in a heartbeat

😂 What’s hilarious is the troves of ppl that comment they disagree … yet most have never owned or even driven a FRS/BRZ/86 smh. If the cars were so “slow” and enjoyable then why would they still be commanding so much money in the used market ? Simple answer because they are great cars for what they were designed to do.
