FOMO to JOMO

Показать описание
FOMO is making a lot of buzz these days. It is an acronym for - “fear of missing out” and was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013; though it was coined at the millennium change.
FOMO is an anxiety a person experiences when there is a feeling that other people might be having a good time without him/her. The biggest challenge with FOMO is that it originates from unhappiness. It is certainly not a good thing as it makes the person check social media time and again, and again and again. It all happens just to ensure that ‘being out of the loop’ is not felt.
There is an antonym for FOMO and it’s JOMO - “joy of missing out”. JOMO is about enjoying what you're doing in each moment without worrying about what everyone else is doing.
The solution to FOMO is peculiar as the social platform is both the problem creator and the cure to it.
Next time when the craving to turn on the mobile screen for catching up appears, remember - it’s your life you’re missing out on.
