To this day, there has never been a player that has matched Lemieux's pure talent. His skating was flawless/perpetually 'poetic' on the ice, his stride was unmatchable, his stick reach was one of a kind, his goals were a thing of pure beauty, his shot was perfect. To me, Lemieux is the best pure, naturally talented goal-scorer in NHL history. Others have & will score more (ie. Gretzky, Jagr, Ovi) But no one will ever do it as effortlessly, beautifully, and perfectly as Mario did. He made opposing defenders look silly & hung goalies 'out to dry' multiple times per game and basically every time he touched the puck.

I am a 90's - Flyers fan myself and will say, you can indeed travel to the ends of the earth and not find a guy as nice as Mario Lemieux!

Lemieux was the best because he basically had bad health half of his career and STILL put up these numbers. Came back from cancer and won the scoring race. In a league of his own, regardless of stats.

The fact that he was so successful for the one franchise as both player and owner is the thing I find the most impressive, to be honest. That, and coming back after beating cancer.

He really was the greatest. This documentary brought back a lot of great memories.

No other NHL player should ever wear the number 66

A big man who skated so easily and gracefully. 1723 points in the 915 games of his shortened career. 8th on the all time points list. 5 art ross trophies won during the Gretzky era. Played in only 64 games in 92, won the art ross. Played in only 60 in 93, won it again. 10 seasons with 100 points or more, half of which were 70 games or less played. Came back at 35 after battling health issues for 3 years to add another 200+ points to his score sheet. At 37 he scored 91 points in 67 games. When Gretzky was 37 he scored 90 but in a full healthy 82 games. Had Lemieux been healthy and played 1500+ games it's possible he could have matched or maybe even passed the great one. The best. EVER.

He was almost unreal. Incredible player. And what a heart. Amazing.

I´m from Sweden, and always think Lemieux is the best. And without all this major problems with injuries during the career, God knows how many more points he could do. He scored almost as much points per game as Gretzky.

Gretzky? Lemieux? Love 'em both. But Lemieux was more spectacular and had an incredible flair for the dramatic.

The amount of excitement the announcer has while Mario’s on a break away @1:36 is unreal, every time he touched the puck there was a good chance he’d do something remarkable. Goat

We are spoiled in Pittsburgh when it comes to hockey...Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby, Malkin, Francis, Trottier, Kehoe, Kovalev, Recchi, Coffey, Murphy....we even got small stints from Hossa, Iginla, Leclair....the list goes on and on...I'm sure I missed people but it's hard to remember all of the amazing players...what a great city if you love hockey!
