I'm still in DEP but my recruiters still make comments about how I came in rate-locked. At least I put all my cards on the table and straight up told them "I'm not signing without this rate, it's up to you if you want to work with me"

I’m just watching this now, but I met with my recruiter yesterday and he was trying to do exactly what you were talking about. I knew from the start he was going to try to make me change my mind on the job I wanted. I’m set on getting the job I want so if they don’t have it it’s off to another branch. If I could give advice to anyone watching this video, DON’T SETTLE TAKE ACTION and I don’t mean punch your recruiter in the face I just mean find your way around it.

I was in the same predicament. I told my recruiter I was only interested in being an MC. I went to MEPS in Oct 2017. They offered me Aviation Mechanic, Hospital Corpsman, and since my ASVAB was high the offered me Cryptologic Tech. I told them I wanted MC & they said it wasn’t available. I was honestly going to go Air Force or tell them to call me when it was and they said it was available but I had to ship in June. Since Oct they called me twice saying I can ship sooner but I would have to change my rate. They even offered a 15k incentive...but I’m not going for it.

Recruiters lie don’t join the Navy period.

Your job in the military is all conditional on your health, asvab, and record!!!! That’s the truth! You can not just have any job you want guys I just got out the Navy! Like a month ago you want an awesome job?! Go to college and earn a degree that’s where it’s at you don’t need the military to give you an opportunity at college.
