I think people will be a lot more shocked if they saw a map with the largest employer per province in Canada. I'd love to see that map.

It’s crazy how the Roman Empire knew about the existence of Indonesia but not Finland

South Dakota having Avera Medical Group as the largest employer is no surprise. Half the job listings you find here are for nursing positions. I've often said that, if you don't have a nursing degree or commercial driver's license, you're not getting a job.

Walmart is the largest employer in the majority of the states, yet known for being a horrible company to work for.

The uninhabited land of the U.S. is definitely more than I thought it would be.

It’s still wild to image the only 2 people in Alaska just robbing each other 💀💀💀

I live in Wisconsin and didn’t realize what a hot spot for Lymes we are. Thankfully I’ve never gotten it but people definitely do.

So, in most maps after US elections, they show red and blue by state and the uninhabited states, which are huge, are all red, which gives a terribly wrong impression.
I once saw a map that was county by county or maybe even voting precinct by voting precinct and it was entirely different and very interesting.
I have also seen maps that showed voting by population which is, or course, totally the opposite of the ones that show how much empty land votes.
I think those and variations would be very interesting to show.

For the puzzle piece, my guess would be the southern end of the Caspian sea/ Northern Iran. Not really happy with that answer, but it's the closest place I can find

They have stopped keeping statistics on violent crime in many areas.

The Romans knew Africa went further south. I think a Roman expedition reached Lake Chad. They also knew about the Han dynasty and parts of Scandinavia and the Baltics as well as further into Eastern Europe. Now the average Roman citizen probably only knew their local area and the areas controlled by Rome and its neighbours.

Fun fact about the violent crime statistics. 25% of violent crime is located in 0.5% of all counties in the US. That's 15 counties out of over 8, 000.
