La canción que hace llorar a todo México.

Crying to a song is not sadness or pain, it is a connection the artist has made with you so it's quite beautiful really.

I’m a 27 y.o black girl from America and I came across this song by hearing the Rocío Dúrcal cover on tiktok some time ago and have been listening ever since.
I don’t know Spanish, so I never knew what the song was about but I loved the instrumentals and the fact that it sounded so sweet and longing like a lullaby. On my bad days, I would play it on repeat because the way Rocío sang it always felt like a warm hug from my mom.

Now today I’m watching this video and reading the comments and find that the originator of the song wrote it for his mother that he lost, then found, and then lost again.

Reading the lyrics and listening to his vocal delivery like he’s back at her deathbed and wailing again had thoroughly wrecked me. My appreciation for this song has increased tenfold.

"Eternal Love" is a song written by Juan Gabriel. In this song he describes everything he suffered after the death of his mother. He had finished a concert in "Acapulco" when he was informed that his mother had just died. The lyrics of this song are 100% real and also the feeling that he shows when he sings it.

My mom said if this isn't playing at her funeral she won't even be there

Juan Gabriel lived in an orphanage, for years he was searching for his mother and spent millions trying to find her. When he finally did, his mother was really poor and was very sick of Cancer. The song is dedicated to his mother, who he met in Acapulco. After some time she died, and he stayed in Acapulco and wrote this beautiful song, thats the reason he dedicates the song to all the mothers in the place but specially for those that left us behind. A song from the heart.

As a 49-year-old Mexican male, I cry every time I hear this song. I wish you knew what this song feels like as a Mexican!

If people are wondering why this song makes everyone cry for their mothers, it's for 1 of 2 reasons...
*1.* Your mother has passed and this song makes you think of her.
*2.* You're reminded that one day she will pass, and you're just not ready for that day.
*(3.)* It might not even be your mother, but it's someone in your life you miss and will never see again.

If you pay attention to main melody the violins give in the intro and towards the end, and his soft singing at the end of the song, they emulate a mother singing a lullaby. He was simply a genius

Juan Gabriel will always be Mexico’s pride and one of the greatest artists of our country. Because of his background, how much he suffered and his tormentous journey to become a famous singer, it makes us feel more emotional when we hear it. Also, this song was dedicated to his mother, they didn’t have a good relationship and she passed away. In Mexico we have a very strong bond with mothers so that’s why it feels very emotional even when the crowd is singing. Thank you so much for your reaction!

My mom passed two years ago and that song represents the sorrow I will carry with me until the end of my own days.

Mi madre fue a ver ese concierto, mi papá le compró el boleto y se quedó a cuidarnos a mí y mis hermanos.

My abuelita adored, I mean really ADORED Juan Gabriel. This was her favorite song. She had dementia and on her bad days I would play his songs and she would smile, sing and laugh. We played amor eterno at her funeral. This song till this day makes me cry. I miss her so much.

what the hell... I came here from her Linkin Park "Crawling" reaction video to branch into a genre I'm unfamiliar with... and to maybe hear something less heartbreaking... never before hearing this song or Juan Gabriel. Definitely still tearing up 😅 there is so much emotion in his voice as he sings, incredible. I'm glad I found this channel, what a way to broaden your worldview, listening to other artists you never would've otherwise, with the perspective of a vocal coach that can help you hone in on what makes an artist's voice or performance unique.

Si con la traducción hace llorar, en Español rompe tu alma... Canción que aquí en México se volvió casi un himno para nuestros seres queridos que ya no están con nosotros.

A nosotros los mexicanos nos gusta sufrir pero hasta para eso... ¡Tenemos estilo! 😔
