In this video session, we have seen how to calculate the Rank of a Matrix in Linear Algebra. Basically, Rank of a Row is always comes equal to Rank of a Column and Hence we calculate as a whole Rank of a Matrix.

We have seen few basic example for Square Matrix and a Rectangular Matrix.

At 5:04 you conclude that the rank of the Matrix A is 2. Shouldn't you compute the determinant of all the (2x2) submatrices to get such a conclusion? Could it be rank 1 if the determinant of one submatrix (2x2) would have been 0? If the linear dependance is between colums 2 and 3, you will miss it with your approach no? Thank you

in last matrix how the determinant is 0 if rank is 2 .. first you said that is determinant is not  0 then rank will be order of matrix..please explain ..

sir i've seen more videos on how to find rank and in other videos they are reducing and performing row or column transformations and converting elements to 0 but you havnt taken any single example on that, so is it necessary to convert an element to zero???plzz reply me

What to do if matrix is of 3×4? Should i choose a 3×3 matrix from that n then solve it by determinant method? Or use different method?
