ive played alto, tenor, and bari and for the most part theyre all the same. this video is a good place to start if you need a quick runthrough of the fingerings, but for more specific fingerings id definitely recommend looking through a method book/fingering chart

You learn G, A, B, C, and D. First 5. Then you branch off from there when you can get those 5 notes out consistently. Don't learn everything at once; you'll want to give up very much

8 years being a flute player in school reading sheet music from the beginning helped a LOT flute fingerings are pretty much the same on sax and Ive been switching from flute to piccolo to sax for awhile now they’re so fun<3

At my school it’s kinda weird so our teachers get to pick who switched instruments and my teacher gave me this hopeful smile when I told her I wanted to switch to sax so if I get accepted for it this video will definitely help before I get those private lessons!

i think its so funny all of these comments saying the fingerings are so hard, but the saxophone is pretty much one of the easiest wind instruments to learn, and probably the same with all in general. Unlike brass, we don’t have to change our embouchure nearly as much, only when we need to produce sound. And our fingerings are rather simple. Everything seems complicated when you’re new at it, but trust me, if 6th grade me could memorize and learn the fingerings, you can too.

POV you just got a clarinet so you look up sax videos. Idk why I’m like this, when learning guitar I watch piano videos. I hope that means I’m gonna stick with it for 8 years like guitar

I agree with you. Although I've heard some people say that the b flat fingering your showing is the alternate fingering and your supposed to use the other one as the primary... However I've never done that. I use the same way as you

I would recommend you guys look up a fingering chart. It's drawn in a shorthand of the saxophone, but I think it's pretty intuitive.

The best is having a private teacher of course. They can show you that the same note can be fingered multiple ways and how you might be better off using an alternative fingering depending on the musical phrase you are playing.
