Yesterday, the Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR) publishes its report on safety of journalists in the Netherlands. Following interviews with more than twenty local stakeholders, the MFRR concludes that the Netherlands in many ways constitutes a best practice example, thanks to its pioneering PersVeilig mechanism. Nevertheless, aggression and attacks are on the rise and there are ways to improve on the protection journalists.
On 13 April in The Hague, a press conference was held to discuss the findings and recommendations. More information and full report can be found here:
