Women Journalists Continue to Face Challenges Regarding Lack of Press Freedom
Показать описание
Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 says freedom of speech and expression is a fundamental right for all, but media watchdog groups argue that for journalists, that is far from the case. Reporters Without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists say they remain concerned about lack of press freedom for media practitioners.
A 2020 survey by the Committee to Protect Journalists found the number of journalists imprisoned globally reached a record high of 274. VOA’s Ndimyake Mwakalyelye spoke to Sub-Saharan Africa representative of CPJ, Muthoki Mumo, about the unique challenges that journalists face, including women journalists as opposed to their male counterparts.
