Question. I’m a rudimental drummer trying out for a drum corps group, (bluecoats) and obviously I have to learn Moeller especially for Moeller modulations the exercise. The marching snare drum and tenors technique for Moeller seems way smaller when I watch in slow motion. What is the difference? Is it less arm faster flick? Is it more arm that just goes up rather than sideways? Thank you for this content By the way, I just subbed and I’ve been looking for a good knowledgeable guy on yt! 🥁

Never heard this anywhere else. Thank you for sharing this, I'll be sure to try this next time I'm on the kit.

Great video man.
I do the Moller technique liked you showed. Never realized I was movjng my hand in that whisking motion.
I think its from playing bruzhes in that same "stiring the pot" motion.

Again awesome technique

I understand that there's different approaches to how to play drums and if you can implement whatever style you play at the fastest bpm possible then i dont really see a problem. I mean i just watched a video of a guy doing exactly what you are saying not to do and he was doing it fluidly and fast. Not just single strokes but doubles triples and quadruple stroke rolls with one hand. Who am i to say that guy is doing it wrong. It looked pretty solid to me.

Let's say I want to incorporate the moeller in with rudiments, would I practice the moeller separately and blend it in naturally with rudiments, or would I work it in with rudiments and exaggerate it with the accents?

Maybe it makes sense for historical accuracy, or maybe just fro snare drumming, but in practice the technique has evolved a lot. It is no longer just for snare drumming and can be used in many other situations where the way described in the video can be awkward to use. So saying that one way is wrong and the other is right is not a good thing to say, so people will just use what works best for them.

The other video I watched gave zero indication of this. Thank you

That's a Gruber turn, not Moeller.
