Intel isn't known for its stellar "value" proposition, but a new CPU in its Coffee Lake refresh lineup caught my eye... and it just might be the best value gaming CPU on the market!

UPDATE: Core i3s are not HT SKUs (duh). Also, as expected, Intel leaves the pricing in the hands of the retailer. If the price of the 9400F jumps, it's likely due to a demand increase and/or supply decrease.

Intel 2015-2018: *Can't spend $240 for a CPU? It smell like BROKE in here*
Intel 2019: *we are going to try acknowledging you as humans*

Just bought a R5 1600 from Microcenter for 79.99

Sorry Intel, but couldn't pass that deal up.

even though it's a good option, I'd rather have a 2600 for 148

Microcenter has the Ryzen 5 1600 for $85 brand new... nothing can beat that at the moment

Actually at microcenter you can get a Ryzen 5 1600 for $80 and you can get another $30 off if you get a motherboard as well

So they pulled a G4560 by launching at an incredibly low price but then raising it soon after

Got an i5-8400 at micro center for $160 last month. Pairs very well with my 980Ti. I was shocked at how smooth everything was coming from an i7-2600.

The overwhelming majority of streamers should be using nvenc anyway especially if they have turing

As of right now, if you live near a Micro Center, you could get the Ryzen 5 1600 for $79.99 and then get a B450 Mobo for cheap and then you'll be set. If you want to up it to 8-cores/16-threads, you can get a Ryzen 7 1700X for $149.99. So, as of this "sale" (I guess), the better value would be the Ryzen 5 1600 or Ryzen 7 1700X.

This is just my quick analysis. Greg could probably correct me on this. Potentionally a 1700X v 9400F?

Gosh, white motherboards are so damn gorgeous. I want to do a completely white build with as small amounts of black as possible.

I saw the 9400F come out and thought the original price was a little too high. But seeing it where it is now, I think it's definitely a CPU that I would consider using for the upcoming PCs I'm going to build and sell. There are a good few people that I know that just use their PC for gaming and watching youtube, so this being an option for a more mid-range budget is great for me and the variety of builds I can offer people.

The price difference in the UK is very minimal between the i5 9400F and 2600, but the 1600 can be found cheaper too.

Damn, probably the best sub $200 Intel CPU. Pretty nice

I snagged my 2600x on sale for 170$ and it came with a copy of the division 2 I sold for 30$. Pretty happy with that.
