How new is new? It’s actually a constant debate around the car biz, and our shop, when it comes to Porsche’s iconic 911. Over 55-years and seven generations, each “new” 911 always seems to be refined, more than reborn. And here we are with the eighth gen 911 ready for the road. So, is it just another notch upward, or has the world’s quintessential sports car achieved a new level of “new”.

This guy has had the best imaginable life, testing and reviewing cars for 40 years. It doesn't get better than that.

This video is fitting since both the 911 and John Davis are timeless icons

thank you motorweek, the only non bias source we can count on for car reviews, you are not beholden to stockholders, magazine editors or anyone really, and your enthusiasm for this amazing Porsche really shows.

I love how the spoiler mimics the look of the old whale tail from the turbos.

Did anybody else notice the swastika on the center caps when in motion? 1:38

3.0 secs to 60mph in a middle-of-that-range car with 2WD is damned impressive!

I started watching MotorWeek, back in the early 1990's. I tip my hat to John Davis for his endless workmanship, reviewing generations of automobiles for the benefit of us all.

-Thank you John

I remember when I was in high school in 1979 the 911 only had 172 hp...gorgeous body work on the 2020, but wish the rear spoiler was more like the Panamera’s...the current spoiler looks as if someone left a trunk lid open.

Great 911S with almost 450hp wow. My lighter weight ‘99 911 had 300hp and was amazing — but this thing’s a monster and really nice looking.

I have watched John Davis on Motor Week on PBS since I was in elementary school in the mid-80's. But what the heck is with the orange spray tan?! I nearly choked on my saliva!

Damn...3.0 0-60 even with all that slippage. Imagine if it held tight with drag radials?! 2.7 perhaps?? Insane...
