Raspberry Pi LESSON 70: Using an IR Proximity Sensor for Collision Avoidance

In today's video I will show you how to incorporate an IR proximity sensor into your raspberry pi projects for collision avoidance. We will be demonstrating this with the sensor in the Sounfounder Raphael kit

You will also need a Raspberry Pi. I suggest the Raspberry Pi 4. If you do not already have one, this is the most suitable gear I could find:

The Raspberry Pi's are sort of pricy right now, so you can look on ebay or elsewhere to see if there are any deals. You will need a SD card. If you do not already have one, this is a good one:

I like using a wireless keyboard and mouse to have fewer wires. You can certainly use your USB keyboard and mouse, but if you want a nice wireless one, this one works on the pi. We demonstrate this by using a button switch to control a LED.

I AM LEGEND! Before Paul started these lessons, I knew nothing about the Raspberry Pi and could not understand why anyone would want a dangerous-looking bare PC board lying around their house. I now realize that it is a great little computer that rivals PCs and Macs, plus a super device for sensing and controlling external devices inside and outside my home. Being the best teacher in my entire life, Paul has made it interesting and fun to make the Pi an important part of my life going forward. Hello Paul, Sadly, the raspberry pi is out of my price range. So would the Raspberry Pi Pico W work with this tutorial? i know theres a specific tutorial for that but i feel this is just more detailed
