You have a misunderstanding of gothic culture, its not that were sad or dark but instead we find beauty in what is dark and morbid, we see the positive in the void(which is why miracle eye os an egg move for gothitelle) Along with the clear occult inspirations and psychic being the occult-magic type.
Alsp dark type represents evil, underhanded and mean tactics, like sucker punching or animalistically biting or faking vulnerability, it doesnt really relate to gothitelle.
