Star Trek has a problem with bisexuality. The franchise has heavily relied on the depraved bisexual trope throughout it's half-century history in order to highlight an evil character's villainy through promiscuity and perpetuation of bisexual stereotypes. Jessie breaks down some of the issues with the franchise.

What about jadzia dax being bisexual and it being portrayed in a really passionate and wholesome way with her ex partner?

I don't know if I just missed it or what, but I don't think Mirror!Ezri was bi. It's a point of angst for Mirror!Brunt that he "isn't her type", which is explained by showing her with Mirror!Kira. If that wasn't intended to mean "into girls, not into boys", then it didn't mean anything at all.

Yes, it sucks, but we're not at a point where you can force people to accept or even acknowledge things which they perceive as bad/evil/stupid.  You have to meet people where they are instead of where we'd like them to be now.  Sometimes, yes this sucks too, as liberals/progressives we expect far more out of a number of straight people than they are capable of experiencing, feeling, or exhibiting.  That's a whole other discussion about societal progression itself.  I think, going forward in the US, we have to find a way to change how we deal with the straight world, so to speak.  I am not the person to ask how to do that, but what we're doing isn't exactly working the way we want it now.  America has a much more difficult time with change than every other first world nation.  Our very strengths are our problems in relation to such matters.  American society needs an overhaul entirely and I'm not sure at all how to accomplish that short of a plague or war wiping out half the US population, unfortunately.

Change comes slow. And if you try to force it, it creates its own problem. So just let the masses come to you. When the time is right it’ll happen.
