From my watermelon farmer friend - you want a sweet melon? Refrigerate it whole for 2 days before cutting it open. There's a chemical reaction that turns the fruit into sugar when the it's stored goes below 40 degrees. I buy mine on Wednesday for a Saturday party and I've never had watermelon that wasn't sweet - big spot, little spot, bee stings or not, dark lines or not - it's the chilling that does it. Try it! 🍉

Best childhood ever, we lived in the country side when watermelon season came we would hope and wait when some of the boxes on the trucks would fall over everytime they made a turn without fail two or three boxes would fall over we would pick up the watermelon that weren't cracked and bring them home the truck drivers wouldn't pick them up so it was always nice to get free watermelons.
