I'm so grateful I found this video . I am a counsellor and my country is experiencing a sociopolitical crisis that is crazily claiming life every other day . Recently, there was a bomb exploration killing and injuring many

I remember as a kid, the behavior of my narcissistic father would tell me to shut up while sitting at the dinner table! He was depressed and uncomfortable speaking to me. He was always emotionally shut down and he refused to allow me to sing in the house.😂❤

At times the only way I feel calm is when I watch tragedy and death on the TV/computer screen. I guess I feel safe in comparison! I also never felt safe at school. I never worried about shooters, only cold and judging narcissistic teachers! This discussion helps me bring up these realizations that I have not had quite on this level of consciousness before. Thanks Doc Snipes. I love the way you are an authority figure yet "attachable" (approachable). All the authority figures in my life were very strict and did not EVER listen to my feelings and that they were going "too fast". They mimicked the way I was not attached to my father except in trauma. I always felt afraid and went deep inside myself while my father constantly me I "was fine" and he got angry about it. With no safety, my "developmental age" stayed very young and I stayed very afraid.

When I was five, I remember that my mother would leave me stranded at the department store on purpose! Then the police woman would buy me a big bag of candy while searching for my mom and bringing her back to me! This was done to me twice a month either at the library, church, school or she’d leave me at home alone with my sister and brother to go to church. Church was her sanctuary to get away from my narcissistic father’s clutches and an unhealthy, unfulfilled marriage.

When I was in the army we had a very similar technique to the 4321 strategy but some people use it after a firefight. I used this technique myself but mostly when I’m back at the FOB or anywhere that i feel is relatively safe

I’ve realized that I’m over talking about everything. I’d rather be an active listener and less talkative. My narcissistic father and grandfather told me that they moved fourteen times in two years ordered by the Army!!😂❤
