There's an enchantment when it comes to this place. It's like none I've ever experienced after 100s of cities, 9 years of travel and over 40 different countries.

This is for anyone who has ever found a home away from home.

Bergen first captured my heart in 2006 as a tourist. I had no idea I'd be living there six years later for 3.5 years. I miss it very much.

I lived in Bergen for 6 years before moving elsewhere in Norway (I'm not norwegian). It was the best city I ever lived in. If it weren't for the constant rain and the fact that its placed in Norway where you can't really drive to other countries that easily i would have stayed there forever!

I am from Morocco. I love this country very much, which makes you feel like a natural and homely human being. I did research on the culture of this good people. They are truly loyal and love to live in peace. I hope to visit it before I die.
I love Norway 🇳🇴🤝🇲🇦

We took that train from Oslo to Bergen last month. OMG! Unrelenting gorgeous views for more than six hours! We took so many pictures and videos. And though our first two days in Bergen were cool and rainy, we didn't mind. And the two other days were totally sunny. I could live in Bergen :-) despite the rain and the graffiti

I was lucky enough to do a Scandinavian motorbike tour back in the 90's. We started in London, ferry to France and then up through the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and then across to Norway, all the way up North and then back down South through Sweden and lastly, retraced our steps back to the ferry and finally, the UK. Brilliant trip but very wet far too often, even for summer. Great pubs, friendly people everywhere, hospitable and very, very beautiful.

Awesome that you're back in Scandinavia again!
Love your positivity, everyone should explore the world through your eyes!
As a swe-neighbor I most admit that Norway's nature is beyond beautiful, it's quite expensive though ^^
So I hope this finds you well!

Glad to see you enjoy yourself in the city I was born in and currently live in. If you want really traditional mountain-walking snacks, bring oranges, Kvikklunch chocolate and a thermos flask with hot cocoa. For a longer trip, wiener sausages in another thermos with hot water mixed with "buljong". Also bread with brunost (brown cheese, yes) on some, leverpostei (liver pate) on some, fårepølse (sheepsausage) on some. Bring a bottle of Solo (similar to fanta, only more orange-ish) if you like something cold to drink. Say "hallo!" and smile to those you meet, is common both in the mountains and waving to people, while on the sea. Also ask someone for the Fjellvettreglene, the rules of mountaineering. Cause suddenly summer can turn into winter at 1000+ meters height. Most, except many seniors, talk English, and most like Americans a lot.

Bergen is a very unique city in Norway as it has the Hanseatic influence and has been a central trading hub for centuries. Klippfisk (important ingredient in Bacalao) was landed here from the fishrrmen in the Northern part of the country and exported to Portugal, Spain etc.

But the main thing that makes Bergen THE Norwegian city (at least my opinion) is its inhabitants…they have a patriotism for their city like noone else in Norway!

I did my erasmus semester in Bergen last year and I've never felt happier anywhere else. Of course erasmus is always a cool experience, anywhere you go, but counting that in, Norway and Bergen just hit different. Where else can you take a bus or tram for just 10 minutes and you're immediately in stunning nature with no civilization in sight. There's something special about this place. I might be back in Norway in a year for my masters degree 🤞
