When I'm with friends we either split it based on what we got or take turns paying the whole thing. Makes life easier.

i hate splitting the check, it just feels undignified. In my culture we don't do that, its "I'll get it this time, next time you can get it" (even in high school). I'm in college in Malaysia and here everyone splits the bill, and its weird. For teens/youngsters sure no problem but that behavior seems unfitting for an adult.

Arabs will wrestle just to pay the bill, and if my mom offers to pay, I quietly whisper "No mom, ..we could do things with that money"

I'm the bad ass. I'd rather pay 3$ more than waste my time dealing with annoying pinchpennys. If a friend claims to have 'forgotten' their wallet, I'll gladly pay for their food as well and make them buy me an ice cream or something next time. I think nothing is more unsexy/unfriendly than money talk after a get-together. This goes especially for any kind of BYO-situation: 'Guys, I paid 30$ for the cake, I think it's only fair if everyone gives me like 2$ or something.' 'Well...I paid 15$ for beer and I know you had at least 3 so I think we're even!'  Rule of thumb: Only bring what you are willing+able to pay for.

I always pay the Birthday-persons bill for them they always insist on paying themselves but eventually my friends and me have to intervene and pay for them because its their birthday. Unlike the person in this video who uses it as an excuse.

Normally when I go out with friends we tell the waiter/waitress that we want separate checks BEFORE we order. So when the bill comes, nobody is confused or splitting hairs or trying to split it evenly when they ordered the most expensive thing on the menu or over-paying. Easy peasy. :P

How about each person simply pays for whatever they ordered for themselves. I have never understood "splitting a check". Pay for what you ate/drank, end of discussion.
