Hi, I've been doing a lot of research into damp walls which is affecting my recently purchased 1868 built cottage. I've discovered that houses built before 1910 would have been built with lime mortar and lime plaster. The lime helps the masonary breath and expel moisture. Covering the walls with plastic paint, gypsum or waterproof boards will prevent the moisture discharging and will eventually wreck the walls. Do you check for lime mortar/plaster before covering the wall?

hi, can I put dampstop warlock paper ( foil ) onto a bay window which has recently had plastering done ( gypsum? or should I put that plaster board you mentioned instead
