Amazing tip. I can't believe I have been fishing all these years and no one ever mentioned that to me or I didn't think to grab the spool myself. I tried it this morning and it works perfectly. I was taught to grab the line with my middle finger to stop the cast, but sometimes you just miss or don't stop it quickly enough. Everyone I have ever known who uses spinning reels has done it the way I did, so I thought that was preferred method.

That was short and to the point. Very easy to follow your instruction. Superior. Thank you very much.

At 1:15 he says nice smooth casts are the way to go. There is no need to go and type spinning reel smooth cast in the youtube search bar or anything, just look at 0:14 in this video I love his cast... this guy casts LIKE A BOSS!!!.

I use both bait cast reels an spinning reels an I think a bait cast reel is easier to deal with. But good video helpful tips

Can anyone help me I dont get snags or birds nest but I have another problem. My line 90 percent of the time I cast gets caught up under the rest of the line on the reel so cast cast will either stop short or when i cast far it goes maybe 20 feet then stop completly. I have no barbs or rough spots where it can get caught up but on examination the line is slipping under the rest of the line on the spinning reel. whats my problem????

If you shut the baill by hand, you ruin the spring inside it a lot faster.
