How many times have you heard “never ever let your knees go over your toes it’s wrong!” Well not necessarily ❗️

It’s bad enough having to figure out how to train your body and figuring out what you need to do let alone people making you feel scared and overwhelmed over things that really are not as big of an issue as you might thing!

It’s not about mobility. It’s about not putting undue pressure on the knees so as not to damage them.

Very informative, thanks young lady. Didn’t take care of myself properly in my 20s and 30s and now finally taking care of my health for my family. Good to know proper body mechanics for an old bastard like me so I don’t blow out my back or knees! Much obliged.

Thank you for this. My squat form is always so bad because I'm being pushed to keep my knees behind my toes, for the longest time I've shied away from squats in public. But when I go over it feels natural for me and I have good form

Maybe it comes down to training, when you first start your knee is weak, the more you train over your toes the stronger and more flexible your knee and muscles become. I don't see it being a myth but you can get hurt if you overdue anything.

Excellent! As someone who has suffered with crepitus for years, I appreciate your bringing the truth! Even with the problems with my knees, alignment is half the battle. Strengthening is the other half but is doable with good alignment

it's not about mobility. when your knees go over your toes, weight of your body exerts force tangential to your knee. so that means you are stressing your pcl (posterior cruciate ligament). same goes if your knees go sideways. your mcl and lcl will be stressed. as you progress, of course your ligaments will become stronger. but why stress your ligaments unnecessarily when you can exercise or build muscles with lesser stress on those ligaments.

Taller people, listen to me. Listen to your body. If your tall like me your knees WILL go over your toes. There is nothing wrong with that.

As someone who wrecked her knee on her 3rd day at the gym, keep your knees aligned with your feet. My leg was bent inward at the knee when I tried to get off the ground and POP. I could hear it, I could feel it, it was so bad I could smell it and see it.

I’ve never heard of that myth until now tbh.

I'm 5'9 and my knees always go over my toes; I knew that it always felt better and more comfortable. I always listened to the " Don't let your knees go over your toes myth" and now, have arthritis in both knees...

When we walk down the stairs our knees always go over our toes, it's so awkward and hilarious tryna go upstairs or downstairs without knees over toes 😂 and if our bodies do that naturally then my thinking is, we should replicate it when exercising, to strengthen our natural ability/range of motion

When ever I do this exercise I got a hurt on my knee so this is the most exercise I hate ever,
But I'm gonna follow your advice😊

Two separate certified personal trainers told me this! I felt the weight of the world lift off of me with squatting. My form is so much safer and actually targeting my muscles correctly. Whew, so glad this myth was thrown out, at least for those of us who it doesn’t suite.
