MacOS X - How to set PATH variable permanently

MacOS X - Simple steps to update/set PATH variable permanently

1. Open up a Terminal Window
2. Run: "$ sudo nano /etc/paths"
3. Add the path to your folder
4. Save changes you made to /etc/paths file
5. Close Terminal Window
6. Done!

At 0.50s you are asked "File name to write: /etc/paths". What should I do?
