Araucaria araucana (commonly called the monkey puzzle tree, monkey tail tree, piñonero, or Chilean pine). Thanks for the video. I love the symmetry of the knots. If I keep watching you I shall have to buy a small lathe and plunge down the rabbit hole. Love your work.

That is a very beautiful bowl, mr. Waldt. I still have to use an old Myfrod lathe - so cannot duplicate. But I love everything on that bowl. Regards from a locked down South Africa.

Gorgeous. I agree with your decision to keep and accent the knots/inclusions. Must have been very challenging to deal with the radical difference in hardness from knot to soft-ish wood. Beautiful job.

Hi Mike....beautiful bowl... the Monkey puzzle is really unusual...we had one in our garden when I was a lad . Sadly it was cut down and burnt ...as they grow the lower branches are removed and they loose a lot of sticky sap from the cuts I guess that's why there are so many cracks where the branches were ... great video as always....All the
