I was just messing with the av adapter and I discovered that switching the white and yellow plugs will do the trick.

Bruh, I've been looking for solutions for like 20 mins, then I realized that I was in the HDMI channel instead of the Video channel smh I'm stupid

Ok i tried this, didnt work at first, turned it off, gave it a few "love taps" on the sides, turned it on and sorted! :)

Oh my god. I was ready to throw my tv out of a window until I found this video. Thank you so much. I never would’ve figured that out.

You DA MAN!!! Had to go with Wii Yellow to Adaptor Red, for Sony Bravia TV. But utterly amazing that THIS is an option that worked here, and not really in anyone's troubleshooting guide. Should be STEP #1: dufus TV and/or Adapter manufacturer may have screwed up wiring for the 3.5mm Input of AV Signals, so try Swapping Yellow out to each of the OTHER (White or Red) inputs and retest. (My Wii initially didn't work on 2 Sonys and 1 TCL, so guessing mis-wiring blame goes to Adapter manufacturer in my case.)
My opinion of TV/Video/Adaptor manufacturers has plummeted. Seriously, how could something this simple - pin out on 3 signals old as day is long - be screwed up? Probably many Wii's needlessly trashed because of this screw up.

I am on this same journey as everyone here. I have bought a wii console but my samsung tv doesn't have any component ports, only 3 x HDMI ports. I bought a Wii to HDMI cable off amazon and have plugged it into two of the HDMI ports but not getting any signal. Unfortunately no plugs to reverse with the cable i bought. I have just ordered a component to HDMI converter from amazon. Will try this just incase it is the cable but also lets me try the original component cable and lets me try this cable reversal trick if the output of the wii console its self is what is wierd as it seems to be given how many people in the comments have found it helpful to switch plugs around.

This is exactly what’s happening to my console. I have tried the same strategy as yourself and I’ve had no luck

What is the connector wire you used for the white red and yellow cables

Why would yellow not be video??? Thank you for this video, I was worried my Wii was bricked or something. I have a Sony TV and connecting video to the white input worked. Do some TVs just not care about standards?

I just got a TV and I have a TV with AV hook up but it won't work. I tried switching the cables around but the screen remained black. The video input must work or you need a TV from the 2000s.
